Francis Albert Sinatra was born on December 12, 1915, in Hoboken, New Jersey. He died on May 14, 1998.
After singing in clubs, Sinatra became a singer for Harry James's band then for Tommy Dorsey's band. In the early 1940s, he set out on his own as a solo singer and as a film actor.
Sinatra won an Oscar for his performances in From Here to Eternity which was released in 1953. He followed that with acclaimed performances in other films including The Man With the Golden Arm and The Manchurian Candidate. Links: |
