The President of Israel serves in the highest office of the state and is not a part of the three branches of the country's government. Unlike the US President, the President of Israel is non-partisan and "may neither intervene politically nor express personal views on issues that divide the public." Instead the President of Israel " protects the national system and the unity of the citizens of the State."
