| The Ezra youth movement was named for the biblical prophet Ezra. Ezra was founded in 1919 and is still active.
Although, Ezra was originally affiliated with the Orthodox Agudat Israel party, it now considers itself apolitical. The aim of Ezra is to educate young Jews towards the building of the Land in the spirit of Orthodox Judaism. Members of Ezra have helped establish a number of kibbutzim and moshavim, as well as various community and educational enterprises. The movement currently has about 7,000 members in Israel and 3,000 abroad. Links: |
