Ernest Gold
Ernest Gold was born on July 13, 1921, in Vienna, Austria. He died on March 17, 1999, in Santa Monica, California.

Gold began composing music at the age of five. He studied at the Vienna Academy, then fled to the United States when Hitler marched into Austria.

Gold began working on films in 1946 as an arranger, then as composer. He won an Academy Award for his score for the . He was nominated for Oscars for On the Beach, It's a Mad Mad Mad Mad World, and The Secret of Santa Vittoria.
